A Queen of Eastern Nepal, a city of Ex-Gorkhas, unity in diversity, lies in the eastern part of Nepal. In the distance of 540 KM from Kathmandu, the city is highly rich with different culture, religion, natural beauties and modern development
Some remarkable features of the city have been succeeded to attract the domestic and international tourists including south Asian in thousands of number with in a year. Bhedetar hill, all season cold, in the north of city is mostly liked by domestic and Indian tourists. View tower and Charles point are popular to view the whole hill, mountain and tarai of eastern region. A total view of Dharan, Itahari and Biratnagar towns are possible from these points. The Tamor and saptakoshi rivers running from the north and west border of Dharan have always been dream of courageous rafters for white water rafting and bath.

Barahachhetra, Pindeswor and Dantakali are holistic places for Hindu communities in this city. Likewise, various Mosques and Churches are installed in the city for Namas and pray by Islam and Christian communities. Budhasubba is a popular and mostly respected god of ethnic (Rai, Limbu) communities. Thousands of Hindu communities like Brahman and Chhetri also visit this temple and pay respect. Absolute religious, cultural and cast tolerance has made this city full of cooperative and united. This feature has contributed to make this city green, clean and safe.

Daily bus, micro bus and reserved taxis are providing their cheaper and safer service to the people visiting Dharan from Kathmandu with a professional manner. Such transportation services are available from any city of Nepal to visit Dharan. Airport facility in Biratnagar, another popular town of eastern region, is available after 45 minute driving from dharan. The flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar takes about half an hour. Taxi service is easily available in the airport to travel Dharan. Plenty of sophisticated and modern hotels and motels are always ready to welcome their guest.

The people of Dharan are lovely, helpful with smiling faces. The society of the city is more frank and open in comparison to other societies of Nepal. Different ethnic and other communities have many cultural events and festivals through out the year.
In fact, one visit of Dharan is not enough to see its beauty, social and cultural capital. A hungry eye never satisfies itself by traveling Dharan with limited time.
